Working meeting on development of Symptom-Based Emergency Operating Instructions (EOIs) for WWER-440 units took place

Experts of the Chornobyl Center’s Laboratory of Safety Analysis took part in a working meeting on the development of symptom-based emergency-operating instructions (EOIs) for power units with WWER reactors. Representatives of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, Westinghouse Electric were present at the working meeting that was held in Kyiv on March 21-25, 2005.

During the working meeting a version of A-3 instruction “Primary to secondary breaks” of Rivne NPP Unit 1 EOIs package, which was corrected on the basis of the results of the previous meeting, was considered. Also, technical issues on updating draft instructions on restoration of critical safety functions “Subcriticality” (VFP series) and “Core Cooling” (VFZ series) were discussed, and the results of relevant thermal hydraulic analyses, performed by the Safety Analysis Laboratory under EOIs Analytical Justification, were reviewed.

Based on the results of the working meeting, RNPP experts will revise instruction of VFP and VFZ series.
