EDEN Large Scale Demonstration in Pripyat

On 17 May 2016, the international training named “Radiation Survey and Radiation Protection in Radioactively Contaminated Urban Area” was started in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The training objective is to demonstrate capabilities of equipment and emergency monitoring systems and to assess their effectiveness.
The training was organized by the Chornobyl Centre in cooperation with Hotzone Solutions Group BV (Netherlands) within the framework of the European Commission’s EDEN Project (End-user driven Demo for cbrNe) targeted at the development and improvement of the EU system to counter the threats of chemical, bacteriological, radiation impacts.
The two-day training will be conducted on the specially accommodated site near Pripyat. Theoretical practice and discussions shall take place in the Chornobyl Center in Slavutych.

Approximately 60 representatives from Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Czech Republic, the UK, Germany, Italy and Austria take part in the training.
