Working meeting on development of Symptom-Based Emergency Operating Instructions (SEOI) for WWER-1000 reactors took place

Experts of the Chornobyl Center’s Safety Analysis Laboratory participated in a working meeting on development of Symptom-Based Emergency Operating Instructions (SEOI) for power units with WWER-1000 reactors.
The meeting took place in Kyiv during February 21-25, 2005. Representatives of NNEGC “Energoatom”, Ukrainian nuclear power plants, operation support institutions and consultants of the Westinghouse Electric attended the meeting.

During the meeting, an updated version of A-3 instruction “Primary to secondary breaks” of Zaporizhzhia NPP Unit 5, which was corrected based on the results of the previous meeting, was considered. Also, the technical issues on updating draft instructions “Subcriticality” (VFP series) and “Core Cooling” (VFZ series) for critical safety functions renewal were discussed, and the results of relevant thermal hydraulic analyses, performed under EOIs Analytical Justification, were reviewed.

Based on the results of the meeting, ZNPP experts will revise instruction of VFP and VFZ series, which further will be used for a development of correspondent instructions at other units with WWER-1000 reactors.
