Instructions for Ukrainian nuclear power plants are currently under development

On March 20, 1998, the Chornobyl Center hosted a technical meeting within the framework of the project for revision of the effective instructions on maintenance and repair of the reactor facilities’ equipment and systems at SS KhNPP Unit 2 and SS RNPP Unit 4. The objective of the revision is to check the instruction’s conformance to the effective regulatory and technical documentation and develop missing ones. The project was ordered by the SE NNEGC ‘Energoatom’. The Chornobyl Center is the general contractor working jointly with the Slavutych Division of the SSTC for NRS and IAC, Kyiv.

The project started in January 2008. The first stage resulted in the completed detailed analysis of the maintenance and repairs documentation available at the abovementioned NPPs. Activities of the second stage are currently in progress basing on the analysis’ results. The objective of stage 2 is to directly revise the available documentation and also develop new, missing documents, which total number shall be over 100.

The meeting that gathered all the project participants was itemizing the list of documents to be developed and revised, specified nature of the amendments to be made, and also discussed organizational issues related to the working progress.
