The United States National Security Directorate highly evaluated the Chornobyl Center’s activity

On May 7, 2009, a joint meeting including representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry for Emergencies, State Nuclear Regulatory Committee (SNRC) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) dealing with the issues of physical security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine took place in Kyiv.

During this meeting, an acknowledgement on behalf of the PNNL was expressed to Mykhailo D. Bondarkov, Acting Director General of the Chornobyl Center, for the exceptional cooperation and leadership provided by the Ukrainian Ministry of Emergency Situations to assist the United States Department of Energy in reducing the threat of nuclear and radiological terrorism worldwide.

The same letters of gratitude were presented to Olena M. Mykolaichuk, Chairperson of the State Nuclear Regulatory Committee of Ukraine, and Mykola I. Proskura, Deputy Head of Administration of the Exclusion Zone.
