Training: “Methods of radiochemical analysis of 90Sr, 234U, 235U, 238U in ambient samples

Client: IAEA

Objective: training activity on the basis of the Chornobyl Center

2-weeks Training Course for specialists from Armenia was organized within the implementation of the Technical Cooperation Program with the IAEA. Theoretical and practical exercises were a part of the Training Course program.

The theoretical part included a review of the state-of-the-art procedures for radiochemical analysis of 90Sr та 234U, 235U, 238U in the environment, a study of the extraction chromatography principles, the rules of measurements using an alpha spectrometer, a liquid scintillation spectrometer and a gas flow proportional counter, as well as peculiarities of the preparation of samples for the measurements.

Techniques of measurement of 90Sr and 234U, 235U, 238U in ambient samples were exercised during the practical sessions.

The Training lasted during 11-24 March 2018 in the Chornobyl Center.
