Volodymyr Lytvyn paid a visit to Slavutych

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Head of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament)  of Ukraine, paid a working visit to Slavutych on March 8, 2006.

The working visit of the Speaker was devoted to the familiarization with the town of power plant workers, important tasks of engineering, technical and social direction that the town and the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant are solving now.

During the visit, Volodymyr Lytvyn got acquainted with the activities of the Chornobyl Center. Yevgen Garin, Coordinating Director of the Center, presented the experience of the Center in the area of power units decommissioning, briefed on the work progress in the Integrated Shelter Database development. Mykhailo Bondarkov, Director of the International Radioecology Laboratory, told the Head of the Parliament about the scientific research in radioecology and radiobiology within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.

Volodymyr Lytvyn made a memorial note in the book for honorable guests of the Center, where he stated that the “Chornobyl Center is an establishment of great importance for Ukraine and the world”.

The honorable guest heartily congratulated all women on the Women’s Day and thanked them for their work and support.
