Clinical and biochemical studies in the International Radioecology Laboratory of Chornobyl Center

In the International Radioecology Laboratory of Chornobyl Center with International Atomic Energy Agency support a department of clinical and biochemical studies (CBS) was established, whose main activity is the provision of public services in conducting a wide range of clinical, haematological, biochemical and hormonal studies.

The Department was certified (Certificate PT-92/15 issued by the SE "Ukrmetrteststandart" 19/03/2015). All rules and requirements for conducting data analysis are observed: the latest medical equipment (modern blood analyzers), highly stable set of reagents, controls, calibrators, German quality standards, disposable medical supplies and accessories are used. Blood sampling is done by means of safe vacuum systems of the closed type. There is a qualified staff, which owns advanced technologies for research, carrying out daily quality control, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results.

Total full blood count is conducted on 34 indicators in order to state the general condition of the body at the moment. The list of indicators of blood includes: the average content of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, hemoglobin, leukocyte counts, cell indices, histograms of cell distribution by volume (a measure of anisocytosis), erythrocyte sedimentation rate by the method of Westergren, as well as morphological description of abnormal cells, nuclei, inclusions, grain, etc. Operation modes of the analyzer allows to conduct research both in venous blood and in capillary, in the volume of 20 ml.

Biochemical blood count is carried in serum or plasma of venous blood to identify abnormalities in the functioning of certain organs or systems. There are several panels: heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, diabetes, lipid, mineral metabolism, cholestasis. In each panel there are few indicators. You can choose any performance or conduct a full survey of all 22 indicators.

Hormonal blood count is conducted according to the principle of enzyme immunoassay on the automated modern analyzer in order to detect abnormalities in the functioning of the endocrine system. Research is conducted by two panels: the reproductive and thyroid. Thyroid panel includes thyroid hormones and pituitary, reproductive panel - male and female sex hormones, pituitary hormones and human chorionic gonadotropin.

Spermogram: macroscopic and microscopic study on the subject of fertility and abnormalities in the functioning of the male reproductive system.

Department of clinical and biochemical studies (CBS) invites residents of Slavutych for conducting a broad range of researches!

( Appendix 1)

Blood sampling is carried out from 08.00 am. to 11.00 am. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Thusday is not reception day. We recommend to coordinate your visit by phone: 3 00 42, 2 26 81, (095) 720 78 83.
In our laboratory there is a possibility of the blood sampling at home.

The priority shall be given to your doctors recommendations!
Have your blood tested before taking medications, vitamins, bioadditives or 10-14 days after the treatment.
Have your blood tested prior to radiography, ultrasonography, and physiotherapy procedures.
Do not eat 8-12 hours before tests.
Keep to a diet for 1 or 2 days; exclude fatty, fried, spicy and salty food, alcohol; reduce ingestion of carbohydrates.
Exclude massages, saunas, exercise, emotional excitement before tests.
Do not smoke for an hour before a blood test.
Feminine analyzes shall be undergone on specific days upon your doctors recommendation.

Different laboratories may use different research methods and measurement units. To ensure correct evaluation and comparison of your results, order tests in the same laboratory, at the same time, and adhere to pre-test preparation rules.

Patient Information:

During any diagnostic maneuvers, test data shall be considered comprehensively and all parameters shall be taken into account: general condition of the patient, development of abnormity, symptoms, etc.

We recommend refraining from your own interpretation of obtained results and choice of a treatment option; data from the Internet and professional literature cannot replace doctors experience. Therefore, with the results that deviate from standard ones, we advise to contact your doctor.

The reference values listed in the right column of the form depend on many factors (sex, age, ethnicity, region of living, etc.), they demonstrate limiting range for different age groups, are of advisory nature, and serve as a benchmark for your doctors determining a research method.
